Boğaziçi University’s Kandilli Campus is rooted in the historic Kandilli Observatory, founded in 1868 and incorporated into the university in 1982. Today, it operates as the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, serving as Turkey’s leading center for seismic and geophysical research. The campus hosts specialized academic departments in Earthquake Engineering, Geodesy, and Geophysics, together with extensive laboratories spanning astronomy, biomedical technologies, biomechanics, and imaging sciences. Kandilli offers a highly research-focused environment supported by advanced centers such as the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, the Life Sciences Center, and the Feza Gürsey Physics and Mathematics Center.
